Update on Fall 2020 Season

It is still unclear whether there will be a Fall 2020 season or not because the City is not currently issuing permits for youth sports at City parks and has not given any indication of when that will happen. Obviously, a lot of things have to change in terms of City, County, and State health department mandates before any sort of public gathering is permitted. And, of course, we cannot have a season without permitted fields. It is that simple.

As a result, NP AYSO is not proactively advertising player or volunteer registration at this time. Although some other youth leagues are now affirmatively stating that they will resume operations sometime in June or July, those statements are not based on current facts because of the public gathering/field permit situation. Those are merely hopeful aspirations.

We are, however, monitoring the situation and are in regular contact with the persons at the City who issue permits. We have made it clear to them that we wish to get permits as soon as permissible. Additionally, an AYSO representative is participating in the working group that is developing a plan to safely resume youth sports through the Game-on-San Diego initiative directed by County Supervisor Kristin Gaspar.

We will update everyone as the situation develops. When we are able to resume, we will do so in strict compliance with all applicable City, County, and State health department mandates. The health and safety of all participants (players, volunteers, spectators) is always of paramount importance.
