Matrix Team Bio

North Park Matrix 2007/2008 Girls

Since the start of the 2018 season, this Matrix team has a combined record of 32 wins, 16 losses and 4 draws against all levels of competition (AA-C to SDDA Flight 2). The team won its Presidio division in 2018, with a record of 12-0. In 2019, the team made three straight tournament finals and won one championship.

There is a strong emphasis on respectfulness, good sportsmanship, hard work, and comradery. The 2007 Matrix girls regularly participate in various team-building activities outside of practice and games. The ultimate goal for all of the players is that the work hard, be good and have fun approach to the game gets applied to all of their endeavors on and off the pitch.

The team holds two practice sessions per week, along with a separate session each week focused exclusively on conditioning.

Meet The Coaches

Head Coach Seth Dameron
is entering his third year as the head coach of North Park’s 2007 girls team. Coach Seth’s preferred style of play is up-tempo, high pressing, and attacking soccer. He strives to instill the skills, knowledge and intensity required for this style of play, while also making training sessions fun for the kids. He has been coaching youth soccer and futsal for the past six years. Seth is a graduate of Virginia Tech who currently holds U.S. Soccer 9v9 and 11v11 licenses. He will soon complete his D license.

Assistant Coach Dan Carrico (also Director of Coaching for North Park Matrix) has played soccer for 15 years and coached for 6. He has certifications in US Soccer Grassroots 9v9 and 11v11 In Person Training. As Director of Coaching for North Park Matrix his main focus is coach education and development. We recently had a coaching education training that involved six 2 hour training sessions where our coaches learned the Coerver training method. We will have more trainings similar to this one throughout the year where we learn more and different training methods. He is also working on getting US Soccer sanctioned trainings here in San Diego, so it will be easier for our volunteer coaches to get the training they want. It is our goal to have all of our Matrix coaches be licensed at a D level at a minimum.

Dan has daughters playing on two different Matrix teams this year. It will be his older daughter, Ella’s, third season on the Girls 07 team. They enjoyed an undefeated season in their first year as a team. This last year was a bit more difficult because the team moved up two levels from AA-C to AA-A and they learned some about losing. It is important to Dan that the girls learn more than just soccer. Dan wants them to learn to be good people. Dan's other daughter Talula, is on the Girls 09 team and they also went undefeated in their first season, as well as won a few tournaments.
